Sue Adlam, 46, a primary teacher, and her husband Andrew, 39, from Wiltshire, have a three-year-old daughter, Georgina, conceived using donor eggs. Desperate for a sibling for her, they are searching for another egg donor.

"I couldn't have loved my own biological child more. She knows that Mummy really wanted a baby but didn't have an egg, so a nice lady gave me one of hers."

"Eleven [eggs] were frozen and we used two - and to our utter amazement and joy I finally got pregnant, aged 43."

The new arrival - whose name has not been revealed - was born this month, joining big sister Wylda Rae, 18 months.

The birth means Nowhere Boy star Johnson is now outnumbered in a house full of females, along with Taylor-Wood's two older daughters Anjelica, 14, and Jessie, five, from her previous marriage to art dealer Jay Jopling.

20 October 2011 - Carla Bruni, 43, last night gave birth to her and French President Nicolas Sarkozy's first baby together, a girl.

The baby girl was reportedly born around 7.30pm last night, at La Muette private clinic, Paris. The newborn is France's first presidential baby.

The baby girl has four big brothers - Carla's son from a previous relationship and Nicolas' three sons from two previous marriages.

When Dawn Brooke became the world's oldest natural mother at 59 it left doctors with a mystery to solve.

Pregnant at 47? She enjoyed every minute

Becoming pregnant at age 47 wasn't a worry for Robin Brussel. "I enjoyed every minute of being pregnant," she said.

Still, it was a surprise. "I thought I was going through pre-menopause," she said. "It just happened."

Brussel, now 48, gave birth in December to a 6-pound, 10-ounce boy named Noah she carried for 39 weeks. He was a cesarean birth, as were her four older children, ages 18 to 28.

Noah was the first child born to her and her husband, Mark Brussel, 56. They've been married nearly four years.

Breast milk only for quads - Mom is 45

Fiona said she can’t produce enough of her own milk to feed two baby boys and two baby girls, and needs another 60 ounces a day — or 420 ounces a week.

The infants, born in June at 33 weeks and weighing about 3.5 pounds each, are doing well. But one daughter developed a serious digestive disorder common to premature babies, which has already resulted in one surgery and will require another. She cannot tolerate formula. And Fiona is determined that all four babies continue to consume only breast milk because of its antibodies and nutrients.

“I just feel these guys were so far behind the 8-ball already, they had so much catching up to do, and to me it’s the least I can do,” said Fiona. “I owe it to them.”

And she doesn’t exactly have a lot of spare time. The 45-year-old mom also has two older children, ages 4 and 22 months. This new supply of several thousand ounces has eased the pressure.

For Sadat, a precautionary biopsy confirmed her worry: What doctors initially thought was an infection of the breast tissue was actually a tumor. A tumor that grew quickly.

Her uncle, a doctor in his 80's, told her she had to have an abortion or she would die.

Her oncologist, obstetrician and other doctors at Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital assured her the cancer was treatable and the baby was not at risk.

Sadat, who was 45 at the time, practices yoga, eats organic food and had never been seriously ill. It was difficult to reconcile that with pumping toxic chemicals through her blood.

"I was a pregnant happy mom. All of a sudden you're a cancer patient, and my whole essence fought that," she said. "I think I just knew that I had to wake up and do what they told me to do because I had to be there for my kids."

She fought the disease "bald and pregnant and getting chemo."

January 14, 2012 - I fell pregnant with my first child on the cusp of 50, a good half-hour after midnight in biological terms, and after 10 years of trying to conceive.

Grandma, 48, Pregnant-With Daughter's Triplets

Apr 7, 1987 - Pat Anthony of the northern Transvaal town of Tzaneen is carrying three fetuses from an in vitro fertilization of her daughter's ova by her son-in-law's sperm. The babies are due in October.

Law Prof. Sybrand Strauss of the University of South Africa said he hoped the pending bill would be amended to include surrogate motherhood, in light of the Tzaneen case. He predicted Parliament would follow British law, which outlaws surrogate motherhood for profit.

The Afrikaans-language newspaper Beeld today quoted the local Roman Catholic priest in Tzaneen as saying he wasn't sure he would be able to baptize the babies.

Quads Born To Mom, 55

Friday, April 24, 1998 - An unmarried 55-year-old woman who got pregnant through in-vitro fertilization has become what experts believe is the nation's oldest mom of quad ruplets.

The three tiny girls and one boy were delivered Saturday by Caesarean section at Mary Birch Hospital for Women.

Three of the babies, born two months premature after 27 weeks gestation, were in intensive care yesterday and one was in critical condition.

At the woman's request, hospital spokeswoman Eileen Cornish refused to release her name or any information about the quads.

Once dubbed the “super granny” in newspapers around the world for giving birth to twins at 50, now 80-year-old Jolie Westers continues to live up to the title.

Thursday night, she scurried around her Rives Junction kitchen preparing food for a birthday party. It was to be a small affair, maybe 20 to 30 people. Besides the cake, she made everything.

“We kept her young,” said James Westers, who with his twin brother Justin Westers turned 30 on Thursday.

"My 27-year-old dead son is back. That's how I feel," said Kanakalata Ram, who became the oldest mother in the state at the ripe age of 61 after losing her only son in a road accident a year ago.

"After pondering over options to have a child again, I suggested to her that we should adopt. But she wanted to explore if she can be a mother with medical help," said Singh. The couple had started taking treatment for assisted reproduction days after their son's death. "My son has given me so much energy. I have found new reason to live now," said Kanakalata who delivered her baby boy on December 2 through a Caesarian section. She had been avoiding the media glare so far.

"People often ask me how will I take care of my son at this old age. One thing I have realized that death can come to any one at any age. So why worry about age," said Kanakalata, who has named her newborn Rudra Aditya Siddharth Singh.

"We are so excited," the Duggar mother, 45, who is three-and-a-half months along, told the mag. "I feel good. I am past the sickness stage now."

"It is a miracle. Josie is the most energetic, busy little almost-2-year-old," Michelle told the mag. "She is short, and yet she can keep up with the big girls and she thinks she is just as big as they are. We are amazed at what she can do."

According to dad Jim Bob, his wife is doing better than ever.

"Michelle is probably in better health now than she was 10 years ago," the 46-year-old said. "She has been getting on an elliptical for about an hour a day and is very careful of what she eats."

Mums often have no choice about right time to have a baby

IN an ideal world I would have had children younger but that's just not the way it worked out. I definitely wasn't ready to be a mother in my twenties.

I met my husband, Andy, when I was 35 and we had our first baby when I was 37 so we really didn't waste much time once we knew it was the way our relationship was heading.

We weren't married when we had our first daughter because we realized having a baby was something we needed to do sooner rather than later. I was very lucky that I had no trouble falling pregnant at that age.

We weren't in a position to have another baby straight away and by the time I fell pregnant with my second daughter I was 43 and I was six weeks shy of my 44th birthday when she was born.

'Menopause' woman gives birth

A 44-year-old mother says she was shocked when she gave birth to her third child on a Derbyshire street.

Jane Eadie, from Langley Mill, said she had no idea she was pregnant and thought she was suffering from food poisoning.

She said she believed that she had gained weight over the last nine months because she had stopped taking some pills and thought she had started the menopause.

Woman of 56 gives birth to twins

A teacher of 56 has given birth to twins after defying medical advice not to become pregnant.

Lynne Bezant and her husband Derek had spent £5,500 on IVF treatment, even though they already had three grown-up children.

They said they were lonely after their family grew up and left home. Babies David and Susan were born on Thursday, almost a month early, weighing 3lbs 4oz and 4lbs 15oz respectively.

Their arrival at Horton General Hospital in Banbury, Oxfordshire, made Mrs Bezant the oldest British woman to give birth to twins.

She said: 'I'm just so happy, it's unbelievable.' Mrs Bezant became pregnant after treatment at the London Gynaecological and Fertility Clinic, the only one in Britain offering the service to women older than 51. They used eggs from a younger donor.

Giving Birth After 50: Miraculous or Morally Wrong?

The intense debate surrounding a very touchy subject.

In a fascinating article that recently appeared in New York Magazine, writer Lisa Miller outlines and ultimately defends the current boom of men and women becoming parents at age 50 and beyond.

The article begins with an anecdote - a couple meet and fall in love when she's 47 and he's 54. Through a donor egg and her husband's sperm, the woman gives birth to her first daughter at age 50.

Two years later, she attempts to get pregnant again. This time, she has to be brought out of menopause with hormones before she is able to become pregnant. Shortly thereafter, she gives birth to her second daughter.

This anecdote is only one of many, and they're on the rise. Birth rates among women ages 45 to 49 have risen 17% in just the past three years alone. Reproductive technology, of course, accounts for this sharp increase.

Brazilian woman awaiting first baby at 61

When most women her age are gearing up for retirement or preparing for grandchilden, one 61-year-old woman from Brazil is set to become a first-time mother in a matter of months.

The post-menopausal woman, who doesn’t want to be named, is married to a 38-year-old man and became pregnant with a donor egg fertilized by her husband’s sperm, the Agence France-Presse reports.

She is due in November.

“I had already gone through menopause. . . My husband wanted to be a father. I wanted to be a mother, too,” the unnamed woman told O Globo newspaper Sunday. “I am in great health. . . and I have undergone a very thorough medical clearance.”

They say children keep you young - and it's definitely the case for Arceli Keh.

America's oldest 'mom' is now 78 but still finds the energy to hang out at the mall with her teen daughter and sing Justin Bieber songs.

She draws the line at theme parks though.

Arceli was 63 when she had her baby Cynthia 14 years on and has revealed she has no regrets.

The infant weighed 6lbs 4oz and was conceived via IVF, 14 years after Arceli went through the menopause.

A Gold Coast woman has become what is believed to be Australia's oldest natural first-time mother, giving birth at 50.

Anthea Nicholas and her husband Paul Byrnes, 54, had a "one in several million" chance of falling pregnant, Ms Nicholas' doctor told the Australian Women's Weekly.

Ms Nicholas, a semi-retired real estate agent, told the Women's Weekly she was alarmed when she first discovered she was pregnant.

Trying to fill an aching vacuum after the death of their only son, an elderly couple has achieved the miraculous feat of conceiving a child at the ripe age of 60 plus.

Retired headmistress of a school at Anandpur town in Keonjhar district, Kanakalata Ram, and husband Sarat Chandra Singh, ex-employee of the district transport department, have conceived again after the death of their son Tarini Prasad in a tragic accident in 2010.

Dr Prabhat Nalini Mohanty, who has been treating 61-year-old Kanakalata, now at an advanced stage of pregnancy, said the husband had no problem because his sperm counts were good. The doctors restored Kanakalata's menstrual cycle with the help of medicines but the couple had to take help of a donor's eggs. "Kanakalata is five months pregnant after an invitro fertilisation," Dr Mohanty said.

Fifty nine-year-old Damayanti Jena from Kendrapada is one among late starters in the state to give birth to a baby girl, 38 years after her marriage. Undergoing fertility treatment at a clinic in Bhubaneswar, Damayanti gave birth to a healthy baby for the first time on July 16.

"I am happy that I became a father at this ripe age. My wife has fulfilled my dream of having a child and gave my family an heir," said Damayanti's 70-year-old husband, Mohan Jena, a retired college teacher.

‘Midlife moms’ seek more respect from society

That mature lady sitting on the playground bench beaming at her toddler may have some gray hair, but don’t call her “grandma.” She may well be a member of America’s fastest-growing fertility group: mothers 40 and older.

And if she is one of these “midlife moms,” she would appreciate a little more respect.

No observer, for instance, can know what Kelli Suchy and her husband went through to become parents.

“It wasn’t a choice on my part” to marry at 39, endure six in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedures, lose two pregnancies, and then finally adopt at age 45, said Mrs. Suchy, founder of parentingbyadoption.com.

Angel La Liberte, who entered “babyland” when she was 41 and again at age 44, created FlowerPowerMom.com to “tell the truth about motherhood after 40.”

This Mother's Day, Mrs. La Liberte and others are launching an online campaign to build support for older mothers and jettison phrases such as “advanced maternal age” and “geriatric pregnancy.”

Ailing actress Zsa Zsa Gabor, 94, and husband Prince Frederic von Anhalt could be expecting a baby soon!

It may require the help of an egg donor, artificial insemination, and a surrogate mother, but von Anhalt tells CNN that the procedure is already underway.

"I've gone through the initial steps of donor matching and blood work and next week the donation process will begin," says von Anhalt.

Meagan Callaghan, 50, desperate to be a mum

A WOMAN is desperately seeking a donor so she can become an IVF mum at 51.

Despite medical risks - and the prospect of having teenagers in her late 60s - Meagan Callaghan, who will be 51 in June, is advertising for donor eggs.

"Life passes by so quickly, one minute you are 20 and the next you are 50," she said yesterday.

"This is my last chance and I'm not going to give up on it.

"I have always wanted to be a mum, but it just hasn't happened."

Ms Callaghan's doctor, Prof Michael Chapman from IVF Australia, said his clinic treated women up to 51.

Oldest new mother gives birth at 63

A 63-year-old Dutch woman has given birth, becoming the oldest new mother in the Netherlands, the hospital and news reports say.

"Baby Meagan was born at the Medical Centre Leeuwarden at 9.48am [7.48pm AEDT] on March 21," a statement on the website of the hospital in the northern Dutch province of Friesland said on Monday.

"Meagan is the daughter of Tineke Geessink, a 63-year-old woman from Harlingen."

The girl was born with the aid of caesarean section, the statement said. "Both mother and daughter are fine."

Dutch media reports said Ms Geessink was the oldest Dutch woman to become a mother.

"It is a feeling that I have had for so long [to have a child]," the woman told Dutch public radio NOS.

"At some point there was something inside me saying: 'It's now or never', and I decided to try everything possible to see if it is still possible."

NOS said the woman fell pregnant through a foreign sperm donor as Dutch fertility doctors would not help her due to her age.

"There is no guarantee that if you have a child at a young age you will see your child grow up," Ms Geessink, a single mother, told the radio.

"Of course, the risk with me is bigger. And whether the child will find it nice to have such an old mother ... I hope that she loves me so much that she will just be glad to have me."

In India, giving birth at 50+ is not uncommon

Seen from a distance there seems to be nothing special about the family in a village in Haryana in northern India. A shy young girl hides behind her mother. But from closer up, you suddenly notice the woman’s wrinkles, and the grey hair under her headscarf.

Rajo Devi Logan, who in late 2008 suddenly became famous as the "oldest mother in the world," proudly stands up and breaks into a broad smile as she talks about her daughter.

"I'm so happy with my daughter! Before she was born, I didn’t feel attached to anything. The neighbours used to talk about us with pity."

Rajo Devi doesn’t like to go back to the period in which she and her husband, Balla Ram, had no children. Like many people in rural India she doesn’t know exactly how old she is, but Rajo Devi is at least 70 years old. Her husband is 80, he says. Two and a half years ago, their daughter Naveen was born, at least 58 years after the couple married.

Single mother, 58, gives birth to IVF twins

Three weeks have passed since Carole Hobson brought her IVF twins home from hospital and it’s clear her once ordered life as a mature, single career woman has been completely turned on its head.

A sky-high pile of freshly-washed babygros, bedding and towels sits on the dining table and the ironing board stands permanently in the living room. With the volume of washing, there is obviously little point in putting it away.

She tries to snatch a quick toasted cheese sandwich while son Matthew and daughter Freida sleep upstairs, but manages only a mouthful before the babies start crying in unison.

‘As you can hear, they both have a lusty set of lungs,’ she smiles, padding upstairs to lift Freida gently from her cot while replacing Matthew’s dummy.

Carole is averaging just two or three hours of sleep a night and admits to feeling completely exhausted at times with the relentless routine of feeding, burping, changing, washing and sterilising bottles. After all, she does not have a partner to share the strain.

And at 58, she is embarking on first-time motherhood at an age when most women are looking forward to retirement, grandchildren, holidays and a spot of gentle gardening.

PAMELA Butler may be the UK’s oldest surrogate mum but she’s not the first to help out a daughter.

Cases of daughters asking their mums to become surrogates are rare, but in 2001 Vivien Morris, 54, gave birth to her own grand-daughter.

Her daughter Laura Westrop, 29, was unable to carry a baby after treatment for cervical cancer. So Vivien, a playgroup worker from London, volunteered to help Laura and her husband Mark.

In 2005, 53-year-old Annie Casserley gave birth for her daughter Emma Hattersley, who was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of cancer when she was 19, and son-in-law Andrew.

Liz Buttle, from near Lampeter in West Wales, became the UK’s oldest mum at 60 when she gave birth to a son called Joseph in 1997. She now lives in Ireland.

Elizabeth Adeney of Lidgate, Suffolk, is Britain’s oldest mum after giving birth to a boy in May 2009, aged 66.

Welsh gran, 57, becomes oldest surrogate in UK

His name is Josef and, while 57-year-old Pamela has entered the record books by giving birth to the blue-eyed boy, he will always know her as Gran.

She carried him in her own womb for her daughter and son-in-law Nichola and Mathew Pagett after her daughter discovered she was unable to carry a baby.

And this overwhelming gesture of love makes her the oldest known surrogate mum in Britain today.

Pamela, from Blackwood, said: “I wanted to help Nichola more than anything – it was the greatest gift I could give her.”

Saroj Naik, mom at 51 thru IVF

Saroj Naik's world collapsed in 2009 when her gynaecologist told her that she was menopausal and could never conceive. Although she had already had four miscarriages, 51-year-old Saroj and her husband Satyawan, 54, who reside at Merces, never lost hope and prayed for the gift of a child.

Their prayers seemed to have been answered when, through the method of in-vitro fertilization (IVF), Saroj was able to conceive again. The couple's elation knew no bounds when she ultimately gave birth to a healthy baby girl on February 10. Their joy doubled when they were informed that Saroj was the oldest woman in the state to have had a successful post-menopausal delivery with the help of IVF.

"Now, our days are filled with joy and happiness. Our day starts and ends with the hearty laughter of our little girl Saili," a proud Saroj said.

Shock birth baby home after 6 wks in hospital

A baby born 10 weeks premature after his mother was told by doctors she was suffering from the early menopause has come home from hospital.

Matthew Arora was born on Christmas day 2010 after his mother, Anita Arora, 46, was rushed to hospital two days earlier after she found out she was pregnant.

After weeks of hospital care, he finally arrived in his family’s Southfields home on February 17 to live with his mum, dad, and two siblings for the first time and is progressing well.

Mrs Arora said: “It is very nice to finally have the whole family at home, and he is getting on very well with his brother and sister."

The Wandsworth Guardian revealed earlier this year how Mrs Arora claimed she was told on numerous occasions she was not pregnant by her GPs, with them diagnosing her with the early menopause.

Daughter at 51y was worth it

The 53-year-old spent 34 years and £50,000 trying to fall pregnant but is now mother to a happy two-year-old.

Kim had longed for a baby ever since she was 18, but she tragically suffered a string of miscarriages, followed by five unsuccessful rounds of IVF.

But Kim and her husband David, from Kings Lynn, Norfolk, were determined to be parents and finally chose to use a surrogate, who gave birth to their daughter Bonnie in September 2008.

Lori Riner is a mom again — at age 48. The Sparta woman gave birth Friday to a boy and became the oldest woman to deliver at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center without the aid of fertility treatment.

Lori’s 12-year-old granddaughter named the baby Tucker.

At first, Lori thought she was going through menopause. But, she said, “menopause doesn’t kick.”

She asked her husband, Sonny, to sit down when she broke the news about the pregnancy.

“Of course, I was shocked,” Sonny said. “But I was happy. Most couples would be devastated, but we were not devastated.”

The couple has been married four years and have children from previous marriages in their 20s and 30s, in addition to their granddaughter.

Woman, 61, gives birth to her own grandchild

Almost 39 weeks ago, Kristine Casey set out on an unusual journey to help her daughter and answer a spiritual calling.

Her goal was achieved when she gave birth to her own grandson at age 61.

Casey, possibly the oldest woman to give birth in Illinois, was a surrogate for her daughter, Sara Connell, who had been trying for years to have a baby. Connell and her husband, Bill, are the biological parents of the child Casey carried, which grew from an embryo created from the Chicago couple’s egg and sperm.

Crying and praying, Connell and her mother held hands as Finnean Lee Connell was delivered by Caesarean section at 9:47 p.m. Wednesday.

It is just menopause - Mother at 46

A mother gave birth to a baby boy after doctors repeatedly assured her she was going through the menopause.

Anita Arora, 46, said the child almost died in her womb after her suspicions that she was pregnant were ignored.

Her son, Matthew, was delivered in a life-saving operation on Christmas Day – just two days after she found out she was expecting.

The infant, who was two months premature, would have died if surgeons had not delivered him immediately because of problems with the placenta.

She said: ‘I told them five months ago I thought I was pregnant. My periods had stopped and I was gaining weight. I asked whether it was possible, but they told me not to worry, it was just my age.’

Mrs Arora, a post office manager, and her driving instructor husband Kanti, 48, already have two children – Neil, 15, and Kamya, 13.

Scary Down's Syndrome Statistics?

Personally I find the statistics we get about Down's Syndrome somewhat confusing. So I translated them into percentages. I think it is all too easy to think of 1-80 as one in 80%, but it is not. 1-80 translates to 1.25 % for DS, or 98.75% chance of a normal child.

What I get from this is that the chances of having a baby with Down's Syndrome does not go up as drastically as I had originally thought. The one in whatever numbers makes things look very bad for us. When I translated them however to percentages, they look a lot better. We have a better chance of having a baby without Down's Syndrome. If I had an illness and was told I had a 95% chance of getting better, I would not plan my funeral. Would you?

I think all too many doctors are giving misleading statistics for a couple of reasons. The first being that OB/GYN’s are the highest sued doctors in the US. So they pay the highest premiums. They do not want to take any chances of anyone saying they were not warned about DS so they push for Amnio’s. Second they get paid a lot to do Amnio’s. Unlike NT’s and Level Two sonograms, the OB/GYN that recommends them usually does them as well.

I got a bill for my amnio because the hospital miss filed it as “elective surgery”. I cleared it up and did not have to pay. The total was about 10,000 US dollars. Six thousand of which was going to my OB/GYN alone. So money is a factor as well. Who do you think ends up paying that high insurance rate?

After 30 years of marriage, 3 husbands, woman gives birth at 52

After almost three decades of marriage, spent in the harrowing embrace of barrenness, and with three husbands, 52-year-old Alhaja Owolabi Kareem against all odds and human expectations not only got pregnant, but also gave birth to a bouncing baby girl.

For the couple, Alhaji and Alhaja Owolabi Kareem of Ajah in the Eti Osa Local Government Area Lagos State, November 26, 2010 will forever be remembered as a day of celebration of miracles. It was the day on which the 52-year-old Alhaja Owolabi Kareem put to bed a bouncing baby girl. It was the first in her life.

Like most women of her age, Alhaja Ajah as she is fondly called by her fellow members at the Saints Gospel Church of Christ Hand of Fire, Ago along Igando-Ikotun Road, Lagos had entered menopause. Some derisively call it meno-stop!

After being married for about 30 years and with no fruit to show for her conjugal labour, she had lost all hopes of ever having a baby but for her new found faith.

Five years earlier, the 52 year old business woman had been introduced to a new faith by a friend who had watched as she struggled desperately and in despair but in vain for a child.

Prior to this, it had been one long struggle filled with anguish, fears, tears, humiliation and even desperation.

According to Alhaja, she had visited all known hospitals and medical practitioners both orthodox and unconventional, local and foreign all to no avail.

It was after she had reached menopause and lost hope that she decided to heed her friend's advice of seeking further spiritual help at a particular worship centre where she worships currently.

43y mom thought she had started menopause

A 43 year old Madrid woman has given birth to her fourth child while in the toilets of the Law Faculty of the UNED University in Madrid, where she works, and says she did not even know she was pregnant.

She had thought that she had started the menopause.

Two of her work colleagues helped her and called SAMUR health professionals to the scene on Monday at 11am.

The baby girl weighed 1.96 kilos, and mother and baby are now both doing well in the Gregario Marañón Hospital.

I'm 58... and having twins

At 29 weeks pregnant with twins, Carole Hobson is — like most expectant first-time mothers — a mixture of nervous excitement and apprehension. This, she admits, has been a difficult pregnancy, and it will be a relief when her babies are born, hopefully healthy and well.

Carole has suffered severe morning sickness, painful swelling of her legs and, most recently, dangerously high blood pressure. This week she was hospitalized for five days, and she has been warned by medical staff that the twins — not due until February 23 — could arrive any day.

She has been injected with steroids to help her babies’ lungs mature if they emerge prematurely, and she is taking medication to lower her blood pressure in the hope that she can carry them to 34 weeks, when doctors plan a Cesarean delivery.

The risk to her own health is, however, one she is fully prepared to take in order to realize her dream of having children; a dream that has so far cost her more than £20,000.

But that is by no means the most surprising part of the story. For Carole is 58 years old — an age when most women are well past the menopause.

And she is single. Her twins, a boy and a girl, have no genetic link to her whatsoever. They were conceived using donor eggs and sperm.

When I’m 64 – I’ll have my first child

A pensioner from Canton Aargau has given birth to her first child – at the age of 64. This makes her the oldest mother in Switzerland.

Mother and daughter, who is now four-and-a-half months old, are both well and on Tuesday appeared on the front page of Swiss tabloid Blick.

The woman, whose husband is 60, had a miscarriage when she was 61 and three years later decided to try again. According to Blick, she went for an examination in Italy and then traveled to Russia where she received an egg from a donor. This is illegal in both Switzerland and Italy.

“When you harbour a wish so deeply, you must fulfill it,” said the proud mother in the video.

IVF helps 55-year-old give birth to a son

A 55-year-old woman from Dhule gave birth to a baby boy on Tuesday morning at the Origin Fertility Centre in Thane through in-vitro fertilization (IVF). Shobha Joshi and her husband Vidyadhar (54) had the baby after nearly 35 years of married life.

The couple from Dhule had come to Thane after seeing a newspaper article on Thane's first surrogate child.

The Joshi's made an arduous yet hopeful journey from Dhule to the fertility clinic at Hiranandani Meadows in August last year.

"When the couple approached us, we were in a dilemma because of the age factor. But at the same time, we saw their hope and determination. We conducted all the necessary tests," said Dr Sandeep Mane.

"Barring blood pressure, there was no other problem. We had to operate on her the very next day, because there was some abnormality in the cavity of her womb. We cleaned up the cavity through surgery and prepared it for in-vitro fertilization (IVF)."

The next part of the treatment took place in September 2009.

Since the Joshi's were not financially well-off, Dr Mane made arrangements for Shobha's stay at his parent's house in Dombivli.

The embryos were transferred into Shobha's womb in October. After two weeks, the pregnancy test showed positive results.

In November, an ultrasound scan was performed, which revealed a twin pregnancy.

"We were contemplating on whether to have twin pregnancies due to her age. But after a sonography was done in the later stage, it was found that only one baby showed growth. The next dilemma was whether to have a normal delivery or a caesarean," said Mane.

"We decided to have a caesarean keeping the health of the baby and mother in mind. It was only due to the couple's belief that the baby was born without any problems."

The Joshi's said that they are now truly satisfied and therefore have decided to name the baby Saarthak.

"We are fortunate to finally be called as a mother and a father. We always knew that we will have a baby after we came here," said Shobha.

Vidyadhar, a priest, said: "When my nephews and nieces were born, I was equally happy. But today even I am a father. I'll do everything to give my son a good upbringing."

Mom, 66, delivers triplets

Bhateri Devi, 66, wanted to be a mother all her life. And now she finally is - three times over. Devi, who is now thought to hold the title for the oldest mother of triplets in the world, gave birth recently after undergoing in vitro fertilization treatments at a well-known fertility center in India.

How soon Devi and her husband of 44 years will be able to take their children home is yet to be determined. The health of the two boys and one girl remains precarious. At only 1.077 kilograms, 1.02 kilograms and 0.651 kilograms, they are seriously underweight and are being monitored in the intensive care unit of the National Fertility Center in the Indian state of Haryana.

Deva Singh, her husband, is delighted nevertheless. "Bhateri has fulfilled my dream of having a child and gave my family an heir," he said. "She was my first wife and after she failed to conceive a child, I married twice but again I did not have any child from my other wives also."

Woman gives birth to twins at 57

A 57-YEAR-OLD woman, believed to be the oldest mother to give birth in Australia, has delivered IVF twins.

The Sunday Herald Sun can reveal the woman gave birth by caesarean section on Monday at King Edward Memorial Hospital in Perth.

The case is believed to have set an Australian record.

Sources said the woman, who is believed to be from India, had IVF treatment with donated eggs in India before delivering twins in Perth this week.

She is understood to have spent the duration of her pregnancy in WA and was accompanied by a man, believed to be her husband.

New Zealand's oldest mother, Lyn Mason, and her husband Ian tell Denise Irvine how they cope with their young family and other people's curiosity.

It's a few days before Celine Mason's birthday, and when asked what she'd like as a present, she replies promptly, "a little pony".

This is not of the four-legged, ride-on variety, but the brand of My Little Pony toys popular with girls, and Celine would like to add another one to her collection. She fishes in the toy cupboard and shows some of her favourites.

Big brother Dean, 8, had his birthday in July, and he got a Star Wars Lego set that he's obviously had hours of pleasure from.

Both the Mason kids have a light sabre, and they've recently been to a dress-up Star Wars disco at Hukanui Primary. "Some big people were dressed up in Star Wars costumes," says Dean. "They looked real."

Dean and Celine cuddle up to their mother Lyn for a photograph in their pleasant home in Hamilton's northern suburbs. The years since they were born seemed to have flashed by, and yesterday Celine celebrated her sixth birthday. There's nothing particularly remarkable about that. Except that Lyn was 55 when she gave birth to her daughter, and 53 when she had Dean.

Lyn made history as New Zealand's oldest mother, and both children were conceived by in-vitro fertilisation (IVF), with their father Ian's sperm and donor eggs from a family friend. Although several women overseas have been reported to have given birth in their 50s, 60s and 70s, to the best of everyone's knowledge, Lyn holds the New Zealand record.

Almost 50 and I Want to Get Pregnant

As I checked out a tall, slim man in his thirties with salt and pepper hair at a Greenwich Village party, a lady astrologist a couple of years older than moi looked my way and said, "When we get to this age, we lose interest in men." I assume she believed I would agree with her reading of the situation, but I, a divorced, almost forty-nine-year old Jewish female from New York City, still have a seventy-year-old aunt who dates. I also contemplated how we women "peak" sexually in our forties, but I am one year away from, gulp, fifty. And the thing is, I want to be pregnant again. I already have an amazing twenty-three-year-old son, but I want a repeat performance.

Yes; even as most women my age throw in the hormonal towel, I find myself looking at guys much the way Samantha would in Sex In The City, sizing up men between 25 and 45 at the supermarket, the mall, the ballgame. Only I’m not looking for potential lovers, I’m looking for a baby daddy. Blue eyes or brown, balding or Kennedy-esque — I try to gaze right through their skin to see their very DNA.

My friends think I am off my rocker, that I should enjoy the empty nest and not make a syndrome out of it. They’re in the been-there/done-that phase, and those still interested in men go for the immediate gratification relationships and have no desire for long-term proposals. Not one friend will admit that maybe my pregnancy desires might be something she feels, too.

Karen Johnston, 54, gave birth to twins Asa and Imogen 13 weeks prematurely in March. She lives in Bicester, Oxfordshire, with husband Roger, 55, a former Army sergeant who now works for a car manufacturer. The couple have eight other children — Daniel, 33, Jemma, 28, Scott, 27, Amy, 26, Aiden, 17, Bethany, 14, Joseph, 13, and Willow, two. Karen says:

Having had children in my 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s, I honestly think the best age is your 30s.

In my 20s I felt torn between my children and wanting to socialise and have fun, but once I got to my mid-30s and beyond I became more relaxed and patient and didn’t care about nights out any more.

All I’ve ever wanted is lots of babies. But had I looked like an old lady and been in poor health there’s no way I’d have continued having them into my 50s.

For your children’s sake you’ve got to have the energy and good health to do all the things that younger mums do with their kids.

I don’t feel any different to when I was in my 30s — just 3st heavier.

I had my first baby with Roger when I was 20, but I think that’s too young now and I’d be mortified if any of my children had babies at that age — my first grandchild was born to my eldest son, 33, this month.

In my generation girls left school, got a little job, then got married and had children.

But the younger generation today have so many opportunities to travel and have fun, they should enjoy themselves and mature before having kids.

I suffered three miscarriages after my fourth child, Amy, before then having Aiden, Bethany and Joseph. Two more miscarriages followed and we decided to stop trying.

I went through the menopause six years ago and was too old for fertility treatment in the UK.

But in 2007 I read about a 63-year-old British woman having fertility treatment abroad and my broodiness returned.

So Roger and I flew to the Czech Republic for IVF using donor eggs and conceived Willow. We did the same last year to conceive Imogen and Asa, at a total cost of £6,000 for the two separate treatments.

Before we went for fertility treatment I calculated that I should have at least 25 years of my life left to raise and care for another child, and since Roger and I had the money and support network to make it possible I thought, why not go for it?

Whatever happens I know I have a loving, strong family who will be there for each other. I wouldn’t change anything for the world.

My babies keep me young and I’ve got the advantage of three teenagers to help.

Having children is a privilege and it gives me a sense of purpose.

There have been people over the years who’ve told me I should stop trying for more children, which made me angry. I couldn’t help my maternal feelings, though I almost died when I had the twins seven months ago.

They had to be induced three months early when I developed pre-eclampsia — a complication that can be dangerous to both mum and baby.

I wouldn’t recommend that women choose to wait until my age to have children. If they’ve met the right person I’d urge them to get on with it in their 30s.

We won’t be having any more. The twins were the perfect way to bow out of childbirth.

Mandy Parry, 46, is a teacher and lives in Bristol with husband Mark, 47, a community safety officer, and their five-month-old daughter Violet. Mandy says:

Having been through seven years of grueling, heartbreaking fertility treatment, I’d urge any women thinking about delaying motherhood not to, for their own sakes.

I’d have loved children in my early 30s but I didn’t meet the right man, Mark, until I was 39.

When we started trying for a family six months later I kept miscarrying and discovered that my eggs were no longer healthy.

Then followed seven cycles of IVF and five attempts at donor egg insemination in South Africa before I finally had Violet in May this year.

We spent £50,000 — the equity from the house I sold when I met Mark and moved in with him — and it was emotionally and physically draining.

It was scary finding out I was pregnant last year, because I’d been pregnant four times before and lost all of them in the first three months.

I spent the whole pregnancy waiting for something bad to happen.

Mark has three children from his first marriage, but he wanted a baby as much as I did.

It’s weird to think that when he was a father of three in his 20s, I was young, free, single and partying in London. With hindsight, he feels he was too young to truly appreciate his children then.

The advantage of having a baby at 46 is that I’ve got the support of a wonderful, mature man. We’re financially secure and feel safe and stable in our marriage.

I don’t worry about being an older mum in terms of being around for her future. My dad was 44 when I was born and mum was 36, so I grew up with older parents. And I’ve got as much energy as any other mum.

I’ve got a few friends who feel it’s immoral to have a baby in your late 40s, but they know how much I’d have loved to have had a child years ago and what a battle we’ve been through to have Violet.

Whether we’ll have another child is a sore point. Mark thinks we should count our blessings, but we’ve got seven more embryos in South Africa that we’ve paid for, so the temptation for me is to try for another baby.

66-year-old gives birth to triplets in Haryana

After nearly 44 years of a childless married life, a 66-year-old woman in Haryana has given birth to triplets, becoming possibly the oldest woman to do so.

Bhateri Devi gave birth to the triplets – two boys and a girl – May 29 at National Fertility Centre here through In-vitro Fertilisation (IVF) technique, officials at the centre said Sunday, adding she was possibly the oldest known mother in the world to give birth to triplets.

“According to the birth certificate issued by a government hospital in Rohtak district, Bhateri Devi was born on May 21, 1944 in Madina village of Rohtak. This birth proof is authentic and therefore she has become the oldest mother in the world to give birth to triplets so far,” Anurag Bishnoi, who supervised the whole process, told reporters.

A 58-year-old woman has given birth to a baby boy in Kerala. While the mother and child are doing well in a hospital in Muvattupuzha.

She could have been a grandmother, but at 58 Cicily has just given birth to a baby boy.

Having lost her two children to an illness and an accident, Cicily had been craving for a child. With age not on her side, she had to rely on IVF treatment, with eggs from a donor and pregnancy related hormones in order to conceive.

"God has given me a child in this old age. I am extremely happy and thank the doctor," said Cicily, the mother.

A 60-year-old woman impregnated in the United States via in-vitro fertilization will become what is believed to be the oldest single mother in Japan to give birth from a donated egg, medical officials say.

The woman, whose name is being withheld by officials because of privacy concerns, recently found an obstetrician willing to handle her case 15 weeks into her pregnancy after being rejected by other clinics, her doctor said Wednesday.

A 59-year-old woman in France gave birth to triplets after going abroad to get donated eggs. The woman gave birth last weekend by Caesarean section.

The Paris public hospital network says the triplets are two boys and a girl, weighed between 2.09-kg and 2.4-kg and measured between 46-cm and 47-cm.

However, the identity of the woman was kept as secret because the official at the Paris hospital network was not authorized to give more information about the mother and the newborn babies.

BEIJING (BNO NEWS) — A 60-year-old retired woman has given birth to two baby girls in east China, according to state-run media on Thursday, making her the country’s oldest mother on record.

The girls were born prematurely in a hospital in Hefei, the capital of East China’s Anhui province, on Tuesday, 34 weeks after the unidentified woman successfully received in-vitro fertilization (IVF). She was only identified as Cheng Lin, a pseudonym.

Great news for the Travolta family!

John Travolta's wife Kelly Preston, 47, is expecting.

The Hollywood couple made their announcement on both of their websites Tuesday:

"It's impossible to keep a secret...especially one as wonderful as this," the message reads.

"We want to be the first to share this great news with everyone that we are expecting a new addition to the our family."

The message is signed "John, Kelly and Ella."

Travolta, 56, and Preston have a 10-year-old daughter, Ella Bleu. In January 2009, their 16-year-old son Jett tragically died of a seizure. "We've been working very hard every day as a family to heal, Travolta said in November, adding that the "outpouring of love from, really, worldwide has been extraordinary."

Krasimira Dimitrova, a 62-year-old from the Northen Bulgarian city of Ruse, has become one of the oldest mothers in the world after giving birth to twins.

Dimitrova has become Bulgaria's oldest first-time mother by giving birth to twins. Mary and Jacqueline, following an embryo transfer.

The twins are in good health despite being born prematurely and only weighing less than 1 kilogram each, local doctors reported.

Her pregnancy was the result of an embryo transfer, Dimitrova told the Bulgarian 24 Chasa newspaper in an interview, adding that she was initially impregnated with triplets but doctors decided to remove one of the embryos.

'Age was not an obstacle for me... I so much wanted to have children,' she said.

When I found out my eggs were not an option, I quickly decided to use the donor egg program and have never regretted it. I was surprised at what a wonderful experience it turned out being for me. I felt very close to my donor, even though she was anonymous, knowing that we were going through a process together. A person who donates their eggs so a couple she does not even know can become a family is a truly loving and generous soul. It was an amazing experience receiving this gift from a stranger. I have never experienced that kind of generosity before and it affected me at a very deep level.”
